Kerry Keith Mix, Executive Vice President and Provost at Lamar Institute of Technology, is a proud graduate of a Texas community college and was grateful for the opportunity to teach in the program from which he graduated. He has over two decades of higher education experience; including community college, state college, and university experience.

Dr. Mix has leadership experience in academic affairs, student services, and workforce development. He has held positions as an electronic servicing faculty member; ambassador coordinator; dean of enrollment services; dean of business and technology; and vice chancellor for academics and provost. He earned an A.A.S. (Electronic Servicing), B.A.A.S. (Computer Information Systems), and M.Ed. in his educational journey. His Ph.D. is from The University of Texas at Austin’s Community College Leadership Program.

Additionally, he serves the community, most recently as a board member of Southeast Workforce Development Board, and an advisory board member of the Southeast Texas Food Bank. A few honors and awards are receiving the Coastal Bend College Distinguished Alumni Award, the NISOD Excellence Award, and The League for Innovation in Community College’s John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.
