Texas Association of College Technical Educators
Welcome to the Texas Association of College Technical Educators (TACTE) home on the World Wide Web.
TACTE is an organization of professionals in all workforce education areas in community and technical college instruction. TACTE has members drawn from across the State and includes Vice-Presidents, Deans, Division and Department Chairs, and Program Directors. TACTE provides a network facilitating communication between state agencies and college administrators responsible for the development and implementation of education and training for career and technical education.
Additionally, TACTE and its member colleges serve as vital links between their community's business, government, and industrial organizations by providing education and training resources that help the workforce remain competitive in a global economy.
The economy of the state of Texas is dependent upon the education and training supplied by Texas community and technical colleges. Community and technical colleges have been designated by the Texas Legislature [Texas Education Code 130.003 (e)] as the primary provider of workforce education and training for Texas.
Technical educators from the community/technical colleges are working every day to address these legislative directives by helping Texas businesses meet their needs for a trained and qualified workforce.
- Community/technical colleges are conveniently located around the state to serve the workforce needs of both individuals and business and industry
- Tuition and fees associated with the services provided by the community/technical colleges makes them the most affordable source of education and training available to the businesses and industries of Texas
- Degrees, certificates, and CEUs (Continuing Education Units) provide a vast array of options available to meet every customer’s particular needs
- Community/technical colleges' technical workforce educators are associated with and know the Local Workforce Board representatives within their regions. This acquaintance provides further assistance to the needs of business and industry in meeting their demands for trained workers.
In meeting these training and educational needs, the colleges and TACTE contribute to the health and well-being of the Texas economy by providing a quality workforce for Texas.
