Mrs. Samantha Baruela Uriegas first came to South Texas College in 1999 and currently serves as institution’s Director of Project Alignment, the Perkins Basic Project Director and Financial Manager. Mrs. Uriegas is currently responsible for overseeing and coordinating efforts for funding opportunities, as it pertains to the Office of Sponsored Initiatives process review, management and alignment with College practices and agency requirements through systematic planning and evaluation of processes in place.

She has 25 years working in various capacities within education with progressive levels of responsibilities that has gained her extensive experience and expertise in project development, management, compliance, professional development, needs assessment, evaluation and sustainability. Her knowledge of federal, state, local and private agencies workings has contributed to various institutional success with career and technical education initiatives.

Previous to her current position, Mrs. Uriegas served as the Associate Director of Grant Management and Compliance, Compliance Officer, Computer Skills/College Success Instructor, Student Success Specialist, Accountability Assistant at South Texas College. Samantha holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing, both from The University of Texas–Pan American, and an Associate of Business Administration from South Texas College.

Samantha is happily married to Mauro, who is an Assistant Director of Student Service Centers at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). They live the Rio Grande Valley, enjoy spending time with one another, their beautiful pitbull-terrier named “Luna”, as well as with their many nieces, nephews and Godchildren who bring them joy. Samantha’s motto: “Think Global, but Care Local.”
