
Pete Avalos began his instructional career at Midland College in 2009 as an Automotive and Diesel Instructor, bringing more than 20 years of experience from the automotive, diesel, oil, and gas industries. His professional background includes 17 years in the automotive and diesel fields, followed by 3½ years in the oil and gas sector. Before becoming full-time faculty, Pete served as an adjunct professor from 2003 to 2009, reflecting his early commitment to education. In 2023, he was named Dean of Applied Technology, furthering his dedication to workforce education and industry collaboration.
Pete holds an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Automotive Technology from Midland College, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Organizational Management, and a Master of Science (MS) in Leadership from Lubbock Christian University. He has contributed to several key committees, including the Texas Education Agency (TEA) CTE Programs of Study crosswalk refresh committees for the Oil & Gas and Transportation, Distribution & Logistics clusters, as well as the ASE Education Foundation’s Automotive Program Standards update committee.
A Master Certified professional in both Automotive and School Bus through ASE, Pete has also served as an Evaluation Team Leader for the ASE Education Foundation, underscoring his commitment to upholding and advancing industry standards.
